so I added the google ads on the right to try and offset the cost of the server for this website. this is a somewhat feeble attempt and it will probably disappear soon.
Edit: You can also now see what I’m currently reading.

7 weeks down. ah.
really, I mean seriously folks… where the crap did it all go? this is relatively befuddling, and I would like an explanation if anyone out there has one. life here has fallen into a routine above all other routines, and I’m looking forward to expanding my mind and leaving karlsruhe this weekend to visit up with all my fellow german trainees for our fall conference.
last night was me and chad’s first german class. we didn’t learn anything new, but it won’t be long until I do. (hopefully this will give my german the kick in the butt it really needs.) I found the class demographic very interesting, with ladies and fellows ranging from hungary, brazil, portugal, italy, england, poland, the czech republic, pakistan, “weißrussland”, and china. there are three total from poland, and they are the peanut gallery of the group. wagner from brazil is extremely animated, with either a smile or a cringe following his attempts at german. I can see the chinese man’s frustration as the teacher’s tonal inflection for one phrase might change 5 times depending on her mood… (it was also a bit comical listening to him practicing his german R, kind of a spanish rolled r, but more harsh and not nearly as elegant, I should say I struggle with this letter, also). 90% of the class speaks english, and that is how we communicate… but I definitely sympathize for the 10% who don’t.
at any rate, I’m doing well overall. generally tired from work, but always ready to keep moving. the “dark cloud of nostalgia” hasn’t visited me lately, though I do miss the fam and the occasional EMU compadre. ironically enough, I find myself nostalgic for canada more often than home… bizarre, I know. (that’s right you canadians, eat that up).
random tidbits include the following facts: andrew jenner stopped by saturday, I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to speak any languages by the time I leave, and the ipod thing is still going… I finished my promotion painlessly… anyhow, I’m going to end this entry abruptly as is my style. take care of yourselves. peace.

Okay, I know this seems shady, but it is an honest way to actually get a free Apple iPod mini or 20GB version. I would not subject my family and friends to such a thing if I did not know it was legitimate. Just follow the following steps:
Ok, so it is a little bit of work. But it is legitimate and I know persons who have received their free ipod, IT IS NOT A SCAM. This company makes money by referring persons to internet based promotions. This company makes even more money (enough to pay for our ipods) by persons who forget to unsubscribe from the service they signed up for. Promotions vary, some you don’t pay anything unless you fail to unsubscribe after a certain amount of time. Other promotions you pay a minimal amount and don’t have to worry about unsubscribing.
At any rate, if you’re wary of this or have questions, feel free to contact me anyhow. Tschüs.

I guess it’s that time. this weekend, monte glanzer (a friend and fellow trainee) visited to get his “native english speaking” fix. we didn’t do anything spectacular (I honestly don’t know much to do). well, anyhow, we visited the schloß in downtown karlsruhe, the local church’s second hand shop (which was closed). we also ventured for some ice cream. after much self-debate I approached the vendor, saying “ein kugel tiramisu, bitte” (perfect german as far as I know) and he automatically responded in english. punk. this is typical and frustrating. give me a chance, people. well, maybe it was the fact that he saw monte and I debating for 5 minutes over a german-english dictionary before taking the life-impending risk of ordering a scoop of ice cream, auf deutsch ::gasp::
in other news (which I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit), I actually kind of missed american football yesterday. I generally don’t watch it, especially NFL. but, for some reason, yesterday I longed for a lazy rainy oakwood sunday afternoon with football and the dorm guys I never really got to know. ::sigh:: welp… work starts at 7:00 tomorrow, and I’d like to read a bit before hittin it, later… peace.
